Will Champion is the drummer for Coldplay and has been drumming for the band since the beginning of their career. "Clocks" is a great song to learn on the drums because it has an unusual groove pattern. The groove pattern locks in with the piano riff which is what makes this song so recognizable. This is a fantastic example of how a drummer often keeps a kick/snare pattern consistent the whole way through a song. He uses the cymbals to create dynamics and intensity throughout the song. Throughout this entire song Will plays a very interesting pattern that is made up of 1/8th notes in 4/4 time. In the lesson I'll breakdown the groove and we'll practice it together.
